Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is a set of methods and techniques that can be used to change the information in a signal. It has been an important part in advancing the field of audio engineering.


There are many different processing techniques that have been developed for digital signals. Some of these techniques accomplish similar tasks as analog circuits. Some techniques accomplish tasks that would be very difficult to implement with analog circuits.


This section presents several processing techniques that are commonly applied to audio signals.


All methods of processing are related to typical situations in audio software applications.


Many of the topics can be investigated independently. However, most concepts are organized for sequential review.


Each audio effect is presented conceptually and implemented in Matlab.


First, let’s look at a few methods to perform some basic edits. Then, we will look at synthesizing some basic “test signals” we can use for analyzing the various processing methods.
